Our February social was a success, even though it was freezing outside! We're getting ready for our March "Luck O' The Irish Party" and would be tickled green if everyone joined us. We'll supply the Corn Beef and Cabbage, green beer and potota skins and we'd like for you to bring your favorite dessert. Plan on joining us March 18th at the Welcome Center from 5:30PM to 7:30PM. Don't forget to bring your rabbits' feet, your horseshoes and wear your green - and that's no blarney!!!

Event Description:
Shelter House will be celebrating 25 years of offering services to domestic violence survivors and their children. All proceeds from the event stay in Okaloosa and Walton Counties and continue to help under-funded programs such as safe confidential shelter to survivors and their children, crisis counseling, youth program services, a 24-hour hotline, primary prevention and outreach services. During the event, Jones & Company will perform music and Shelter House will have a silent and live auction. Tickets are $75.00 a person and can be purchased at Shelter House's administrative office on 102 Buck Drive in Fort Walton Beach or on their website at www.shelterhousenwfl.org.

Event Description:
The City of Destin Recreation Department will host the 10th Annual 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 10:00 am. This run is open to individual runners/walkers. Participants may bring their dog, big or small, to run or walk the race. There will be a 100 dog maximum. Pre-registration is $15 by March 1st, $20 if registered between March 2 – Mar 19, and $25 on Race Day. Day of registration will be from 8:45am-9:30am behind Destin City Hall (4200 Indian Bayou Trail). Participants can also register online at active.com until March 16. T-shirts and Prizes for winners of each category will be provided for the participants. Hooter’s Restaurant will be sponsoring the award ceremony and celebration following the race. Dogs are required to wear their current rabies tag and be on a short leash. Dog owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs (Bring your baggies!). Registration forms can be picked up at The Destin Community Center, Morgan Sports Center and Hooter’s Restaurant. Save the date for the University of West Florida 10th Annual Festival on the Green. The festival will take place March 26 and 27, 2010, on the UWF Main Campus. Events will include an alumni jazz brunch and awards celebration, entertainment on three stages, a dog sports exhibition, a children’s festival, library book sale, a juried fine arts show, a university showcase, a crafts fair, a classic cars show and festival food.

Festival on the Green is a two-day event that welcomes the Northwest Florida and South Alabama community to the UWF campus.
